Humans!

After... what, 5 posts (haha) and 5 years, I'm back betch!  We had a short relationship, but now I'm here for the long hall.  Love you!

I will be posting more me thinks.  Here and there, and maybe on another platform which I will direct you to if this happens.

But what's up!?

I've been living life, sometimes bad, and sometimes really good!  You all know how this goes. It's a shit show mostly. So, I rounded out that year playing in Portugal, then went to the country known as the happiest place on earth (read this fact in The Monacle, so naturally it had to be true, (which turned out not to be true)) but still a lovely place... Denmark!  After this I made a short hop to Sweden for another season, then the land of vampires, Romania.  Last but not least I had to chalk it up with my brits, landing in the U.K. and having the worst season ever haha!  But, lovely place!

So where am I now!?  I'm back in the midwest, for now.  Finding my footing, which looks like a total shit show.  Turns out that having tons of experience shooting a little ball into a hole will not land you at the top of the working totem poll when one decides to move on.  More on this later.  Turns out the parents were right.  But I will never tell them so. No, I wasn't totally oblivious to this fact, I just thought I'd have to work hard and eventually things would happen.  Enter my totally unrealistic timeline of when this would happen, here.  So I'm in the mix... rock bottom I would call it.   I wasn't expecting how hard hard would be, and I'm sure in the end will have been exactly what I need.  Also, the resilience of the human survival brain is incredible.  Again, more on this later.  I'm navigating this space, some days well, some days, not.  I'm going to use this platform to show what this looks like a bit.  To be real.  To be honest. To show you my journey in hopes it can help someone else.  Not saying my journey is more right than anyone else's.. maybe I'll just share a book that helped or strategy that you resonated with, or a healer that you dig.  I'm sharing my journey of finding clarity and hopefully finding and obtaining everything my authentic code calls for.  Lets see how this goes!

Raw Vegan Persimmon Pie Smoothie

In the States, persimmons and I never really crossed paths. The first time I ever ate one was when I came to the island this year.  I do remember seeing them at the natural food markets, but I wasn't as adventurous as I am now, being that most of my diet is made up of fruits.  So, I'm always looking for that new little spark to add for flavor and to pack in the carbs.  It's all about the carbs baby!  Contrary to what most humans believe, the clean, simple carbs, are incredibly important.  They give us energy.  They give us life.  For an athlete to operate at peak performance, our body needs to burn the food into energy as fast as possible. Clean, pure food can convert into energy almost instantaneously in some cases.  This also applies to people that just want to be awesome at life and eat clean.  We need to energy to go to work, we need energy to smile when one's boss is being a dick.  Fuel accordingly, and as cleanly as you want/can.

Here is my quick and dirty persimmon pie smoothie...

- 6 Dates ( I soaked my dates overnight b/c they were a little on the crusty side)
- 2 Persimmons
- Almond Milk (enough to cover the above ingredients, I like mine a little watery)
- Heap of cinnamon

You could also substitute water for the almond milk, but on this special morning I felt like more of a rich and creamy drink.  I typically do half almond milk, half water, more for economic reasons (almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk, are ridic over here… pretty expensive, everything has to be imported to the island).  But half almond and half water or just water always seems to suit my smoothie fancy.  This recipe is just the bones.  You do whatever you want with it, add more spices, fruit, etc… make it your own.  Enjoy!

Protect your epidermis people!

Please!

Skincare ladies and gents!  To me, when someone's skin is glowing and lovely nothing is more beautiful. Nothing makes me want to caress a strangers face more than a beautiful epidermis.

The goal in my mind, is smooth, healthy-toned, hydrated, and as close to even pigmented as your skin will allow.  I would like to add, kids, that airbrushed, makeup slopped, covered and concealed skin is not as compelling or commanding as that 'au naturel' glowshine.  That's not what we are going for here, people. Don't get me wrong, I too buy every red lipstick that exists, knowing that my preexisting stash of red lipsticks would be boarderline offensive to most humans.  "But holy balls, that Dior Lipcontour Pencil in #999 could be IT."  And so the red lipstick Gods have spoken. Makeup is swell when used properly.  It can really add a pop to those features you want highlighted.

To really up the ante on your glow shine situation, mental and physical health from within is muito importante.  That is a little gold nugget of a post I will save for a later date though folks.

Back to the epidermis.  Something incredibly important for skin health is a great sunscreen.  I've used many, many…many, suncreens .  I know everyones skin is different, absolutely, but for my dry, acne prone skin, this product is the gem of all gems in my skincare repertoire.  So back the F off wrinkles and sun damage!  Not today!  Although, I am at the age where wrinkles are a new "thing" I'm dealing with.  I'm at the place where I kind of appreciate the wrinks. I am indeed one of those sappy humans that believes those lines and wrinkles are a direct source of the smiles and laughs I've shared with so many wonderful humans throughout my existence. Wrinkle prevention, ok. Wrinkle eraser, no thanks.

Pratima Skincare is a natural organic line of skincare that is committed to quality ingredients.  Fuck yeah!  Now people, I would never bring any product review to you that was not completely my honest opinion.  We have a bond now people!  I wouldn't lie to ya! I would not tell you lovely folks about anything I don't believe in.  Pratima has made me a believer people!  I will be doing another post soon about more of her line I just ordered! :)  There, I will give you more information on the company and the amazeballs products that make my life a whole lot glowier (that will not be the last grammatically incorrect word you encounter).  But for now, you have to trust me, that this Neem Rose Face Sunscreen is one of the best natural sunscreens out there.  It is my favorite by lightyears.  It is surprisingly hydrating for a sunscreen, rubs in fantastically, breathable, heals, and protects all while leaving behind that lovely glowshine.  Yes please.  I can't tell if the word glowshine is annoying me, but people, glowshine is real!  Like I said earlier, I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin, and this product works just fab for me.  It could change the game on how you protect your epidermis…

Hi, I exist.

Beautiful Humans,

Since I can't really navigate nor do I care to find the about me portion of the blog settings, I'll just dedicate a wee post about meh.

I am from the fantastic state of Missouri, known for our exportation of awesome humans (Brad Pitt, Eminem, Dick Van Dyke, John Goodman, John Hamm, Sheryl Crow, Maya Angelou) to name a few (and a billion NASCAR drivers, as you could have probably assumed). You're welcome world.  Back to me. From MO, lived in the wonderful state of California 4ish years, Portugal for 2, and currently inhabiting Portugal a 3rd year.  Live on the island of Sao Miguel.

I play basketball professionally.

Relatively normal human.  Trying to be a raw vegan athlete (trying). Goal of 2014 is to master the handstand and read 30 books.  Jesus is my homeboy. A smile goes a long way.  Assorted.  All-embracing.  Deriving ideas, style, and taste from a broad and diverse range of sources (this is the definition of eclectic, I just hate the word, I feel the same way about this word as most humans feel about the word panties) .  Trying to find the balance.

Lets hang.
